Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)

Course Length: 

6 Weeks (Monday and Thursday Nights)

Cost: $100.00 (due with application)

This level of training is ideal for those interested in serving their communities with  local volunteer fire departments. This course is also an excellent preparatory course for those interested in taking an Emergency Medical Technician course. See below for more information:

 

-Emergency Medical Responders provide immediate lifesaving care to critical patients who access the emergency medical services system. EMRs have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide immediate lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional EMS resources to arrive. EMRs also provide assistance to higher-level personnel at the scene of emergencies and during transport. Emergency Medical Responders are a  vital part of the comprehensive EMS response. Under medical oversight, Emergency Medical Responders perform basic interventions with minimal equipment.

Emergency Medical Techician (EMT)

Course Length: 

4 Months (Monday and Thursday nights 6pm-10pm)

Cost: $500.00

This level of training is for those interested in obtaining licensure as an EMT. This course will prepare you for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians examinations and state licensure. Licensure as an EMT is required as a prerequisite to continue to higher levels of EMS training, such as Advanced EMT and Paramedic. See the information below:

 

-Emergency Medical Technicians provide out of hospital emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical services (EMS) system. EMTs have the basic knowledge and skills necessary to stabilize and safely transport patients ranging from non-emergency and routine medical transports to life threatening emergencies. Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response system, under medical oversight. Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance. Emergency Medical Technicians are a critical link between the scene of an emergency and the health care system.

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT)

Course Length: 

4 Months (Tuesday and Friday nights 6pm-10pm)

Cost: $500.00

This course is for currently licensed EMTs that wish to continue to higher levels of training and care in EMS. To take the AEMT course, students MUST be currently licensed as an EMT in order to be eligible. See the description below for more information:

 

The primary focus of the Advanced Emergency Medical Technicianis to provide basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician is a link from the scene to the emergency health care system.
